Henry Fadamiro has been tapped to serve as associate dean for research in Auburn University’s College of Agriculture and as associate director of the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station, effective Jan. 1, 2017. He has served as the college’s assistant dean and director of global programs since September 2014.

In his new role, Fadamiro will lead the faculty and student research activities of the College of Agriculture as well as programs and activities throughout the interdisciplinary centers and research units of the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station.

“This role will be crucial in the coming months and years as our communities experience a growing need for high-impact research in food- and agricultural-related fields,” said Paul Patterson, dean of the College of Agriculture and director of AAES. “Dr. Fadamiro’s scholarship as a scientist, his track record as an innovative researcher and his administrative experience make him ideally qualified. We are proud to name him to this position.”

Fadamiro began his career at Auburn as an assistant professor of entomology in 2003. He was named an associate professor in 2007 and Alumni Professor in 2011. He has also served as the Alabama IPM (Integrated Pest Management) coordinator for the Alabama Cooperative Extension System since 2004 and as assistant director of the Southern Region IPM Center since 2012.

Fadamiro was the strategic initiatives coordinator for the College of Agriculture’s dean’s office in 2013 and a Presidential Fellow in Auburn’s offices of the president and provost in 2012. As a researcher, Fadamiro has garnered more than $15 million in grant funding as a principal investigator or co-principal investigator.

“It is a great honor to be selected for this pivotal role,” Fadamiro said. “I am very excited about the opportunity to work with the faculty, students, staff and other stakeholders to advance research and graduate programs in the college and strengthen the experiment station.”

Before coming to Auburn, Fadamiro had served as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Minnesota at St. Paul and at Iowa State University. He received the Rhodes Scholarship to earn his Ph.D. in entomology and pest management from the University of Oxford in Oxford, England. He earned his B.Tech. and M.Tech. degrees from the Federal University of Technology in Akure, Nigeria.

The associate dean for research and assistant director position is currently filled on an interim basis by Oladiran Fasina, a professor in Auburn’s Department of Biosystems Engineering.
